Art and Math Come Together
Art and math have many close connections, especially as you think about spatial qualities (positions such as "under," "beside," "on top") as well as shapes and sizes. As your child learns about these ideas, she'll begin to use them in her artwork. Your child is also starting to use symbolic representation and comparative thinking, resulting in more realistic drawings and creations. In return, the spatial-temporal skills used in art will encourage her cognitive skills and improve her understanding of numbers and other math concepts.
