I Can Take Care of Myself!

As your child has gained independence, he has most likely started working on his Safety and Personal Care skills. Maybe you've been asking him to put away his toys when he's done with them, or perhaps he enjoys sudsing up in the bathtub on his own. Now's the time to teach him a number of personal hygiene techniques, such as washing his hands, brushing his teeth, combing his hair, and covering his mouth when he sneezes. You should also encourage your child to take care of his belongings and the household objects he uses, putting dirty clothes in the hamper or wiping up spills. If he needs motivation, try singing related songs to make the activity more enjoyable.

Has your child achieved the following Safety and Personal Care developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) he has already mastered to date!
