Building Relationships, Empathy for Others

Start a Relationship with Your Baby, from the Very Beginning

As your baby gains new skills, he'll want to interact with you more and more and work on Building Relationships. So it's no surprise that one of his favorite activities is playing with you, whether with toys or silly games that just need the two of you, like "This Little Piggy." He will also adore getting hugs and kisses, as well as being spoken to, so continue spending lots of one-on-one time with him. At this age, your baby will also begin noticing the other people around him, especially children, as he becomes more curious about what they're doing. You can help nurture this social emotional development by providing him ample opportunities to observe and interact with other young children, whether visiting cousins, joining a local play group, or going to story time at the library.

Has your baby achieved the following Building Relationships developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) he has already mastered to date!
