Dramatic Play
Your Child, Let's Pretend!
Pretend play is important for children for many reasons! It lets them practice their communication skills and can introduce them to new vocabulary. They also get to try their hand at problem solving and working out different physical or social problems that may arise. As your child's knowledge grows, he will become increasingly creative with his pretend adventures. Scenarios will become more complex and detailed. He may pretend to be a teacher, giving his dolls and stuffed animals assignments and using his easel as a blackboard. He might pretend to be a firefighter, evacuating people from his dollhouse and using a stick as a hose to put out the fire.
