Asking Why (and Other Questions)? To Learn, and the Other Reasons Why Your Child Asks “Why?"
At some point, most parents experience a never-ending stream of "Why? Why? Why?" coming from their preschooler. Contrary to what you may think, your child is not doing this to drive you crazy! In fact, researchers are finding that children are motivated by a true desire to learn about and understand their world. Perhaps even more interesting, they found that children were likely to re-ask a question if they were given a kind of non-answer. So be sure to answer your child's question (and any follow-up questions!) to the best of your ability and realize that they are trying to make sense of the world.
