Who Is That Baby in the Mirror?

Your baby is not born knowing that he is his own person. In fact, he thinks he's the same person as his primary caregiver, since you spend so much time together. But at 3-6 months old, he's starting to develop his Self-Concept, his understanding that he's his own separate person, apart from those around him. As he begins to make this connection, he'll enjoy looking at himself in the mirror. He'll also enjoy looking at pictures of himself and those people closest to him, such as mom, dad, and siblings. So be sure to show him photos of different people, including himself, and talk to him about the people he sees and what they're doing.

Has your baby achieved the following Self-Concept developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) he has already mastered to date!
