Active, Coordinated Movement
Acting Like a Flamingo: The Importance of Balance and How to Exercise It
Balance is such an important skill. It's beneficial to your child's coordination, posture, endurance, and muscle tone, and it even helps work his brain-to-muscle communication. Practicing balance also helps develop his focus and attention as he concentrates on staying in his balanced position. Initially, it was hard for your child to stay on one foot for even a second or two, but as a four-year-old, he may be able to balance for 10 seconds or longer. Encourage him to continue to build his balance skills and take advantage of all the benefits they bring.
