Learning to Work in the Kitchen: Ways to Involve Your Child in Food Preparation

Your child has likely been using a spoon for quite a while and has mastered the use of the fork, as well. If he's interested in what's going on in the kitchen, he may be a big help when it comes to making snacks and meals, helping with the stirring, scooping, and pouring. When he's ready, give your child the responsibility of spreading butter, hummus, jam, etc. with a butter knife or small spreader. He can also use these to cut soft foods.

Has your child achieved the following Small Muscle Movement and Dexterity developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all of the skill(s) he has already mastered to date.
