Receptive Language

Someone's Listening!

Your baby has been exploring new ways to communicate with you, such as gesturing and babbling, but she has also been listening and using her Receptive Language skills, too. She knows her name and the meaning of a growing number of words, and responds to them appropriately. Now it's more important than ever to set a good example with your words. Speak to your baby in a caring and helpful way, using specific, positive feedback. For instance, instead of just saying, "Good job!" you can say, "Wow, your teddy bear was no where to be seen, but you figured out that it was under the sheet. You're so good at peek-a-boo!"

Has your baby achieved the following Receptive Language developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) she has already mastered to date!
