Expressive Language

The Language Explosion

Be prepared for an explosion in Expressive Language development as your baby approaches the end of her first year. Her babbling will sound more and more like true speech, and she'll be trying to copy many of the things you say. She'll probably repeat sounds as she practices them, and she may even have a few true words (such as the all-important "mama" and "dada"), as well as funny expressions like "uh-oh." Be sure to respond to her attempts to talk with excitement, and try to figure out what she's trying to tell you.

Has your baby achieved the following Expressive Language developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) she has already mastered to date!
