Self-Concept

"I Am Me!"

Self-Concept is how we see ourselves as individuals, including our beliefs, attitudes, knowledge, likes, dislikes, and self-esteem. As your baby discovers his sense of "I am me," he'll become more independent, wanting to explore on his own, help you dress him, or start a game that he wants to play. To help encourage his independence, give him simple tasks to do for you, like handing you an item, or let him do things to take care of himself, like choosing which of two shirts to wear. Model self-help skills that he's ready for, like wiping your hands and mouth with a napkin after eating or brushing your teeth.

Has your baby achieved the following Self-Concept developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) he has already mastered to date!
