Active, Coordinated Movement

Your Baby's First Steps

Just when you've gotten used to the idea of your baby crawling, another milestone is in sight: his first steps! However, there are a few steps in between (like standing and cruising), as he builds strength, coordination, and kinesthetic sense, which tells him where his body is in space and helps him keep his balance. Your baby is also developing other Active, Coordinated Movement skills, which will help him do things like rolling a ball or climbing over pillows. As he's becoming more mobile, make sure that stairways are blocked with baby gates, and that other potentially dangerous areas (e.g. outlets, woodstoves) are now secured at this time.

Has your baby achieved the following Active, Coordinated Movement developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) he has already mastered to date!
