Separation and Stranger Anxiety

Confident of his Attachment and Trust with his primary caregivers, your baby will be showing you and other familiar adults a lot of affection, sharing plenty of hugs and kisses. However, this same preference for you will also show itself in stranger anxiety, as he shies away from new people and clings to you. He may also have separation anxiety, acting afraid or upset when you leave him at daycare or even with grandma. Even though it may be hard to leave him like that, know that you can help him pass through this stage. Make sure to introduce your baby to a new caregiver before leaving, let the caregiver know his needs and favorite comfort objects, and develop a pleasant goodbye routine.

Has your baby achieved the following Attachment and Trust developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) he has already mastered to date!
