Give It a Try! Introducing New Foods to Your Baby

You've been introducing your baby to food one step at a time, and since he now gets most or all of his nutrition from solid food, it's important that he eats a variety. Help him stay open to trying new foods by giving him bite-size pieces he can feed himself. Eat the same foods, so that he can see how much you like particular foods and cuisines. Be supportive when he tries a new food, but don't worry if it takes several tries before he likes it. This is a good time to start teaching him good mealtime habits: eating sitting down (not while walking around!), chewing carefully, turning off electronics, saying "please" and "thank you," and of course, trying new foods.

Has your baby achieved the following Healthy Food and Eating developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) he has already mastered to date!
