Caring for Others - Building Empathy in Your Baby

Part of your baby's emotional intelligence is understanding the feelings of others and showing care and concern for them, also known as Empathy for Others. Your baby will show this by becoming upset when he sees a sad child or offering that child a toy to help her feel better. Try to encourage his empathy by talking about the feelings of others. In addition, explain that hitting and other naughty behaviors hurt people, and help him relate to how the injured person feels.

Has your baby achieved the following Empathy for Others developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) he has already mastered to date!
