Family Roles

Self-Concept and the Role of Family

Every person plays many roles, defined by their relationships and interests. Your child is learning how she fits into the world and your family, and is figuring out that she is a daughter or son, grandchild, and possibly also a sibling, niece, or cousin. You can help your child feel like an important part of the family by pointing out these relationships, as well as involving him with tasks such as feeding the family pet, bringing dirty clothes to the hamper, or putting books on a shelf.

Has your baby achieved the following Family Roles developmental milestones yet? If yes, check off all the skill(s) she has already mastered to date!
