Your Child Playing with Patterns

Patterns are present throughout the natural and manmade world, and your child, with her improving visual acuity and awareness of details, is finding them. Sorting is a great way to encourage pattern recognition and categorization, as is seriation, the ability to place objects in order. Encourage these skills by playing matching and sorting games, comparing and contrasting objects, and looking for patterns in your environment.
