Scribble Art with Textures
Put a fresh twist on the usual coloring activities in Scribble Art with Textures, one Playful Bee’s art activities for 12 to 18-month-old children. In this activity, you will nurture your toddler’s art appreciation and creativity, while helping her develop hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.

Materials:
- Large sheets of paper
- Crayons
- Flat, textured objects (e.g. leaf, lace, fabric, carpet, etc.)
- Tape
Directions:
- Describe textures. Collect your flat textured objects. Describe them using comparative terms (e.g. smooth, bumpy, veiny, etc).
- Prepare to color. Tape a piece paper on top of the textured objects on a table top.
- Color. Encourage your little artist to scribble over the textured objects using crayons.
- Discuss. Talk to your child about how it feels as she colors over the different objects and the patterns that emerge on the paper.
