Flower Fun: Stimulate Smell, Sight, and Touch
People of all ages enjoy the way flowers stimulate their different senses. Flower Fun, an activity from Playful Bee, is a beautiful and stimulating way to engage your 6 to 9-month-old in developing her sense of smell, sight, and touch. Never mind if your baby pulls a petal off or squishes the flower with her nose! She’s learning to explore and observe through her senses, develop her curiosity about her environment, and practice her hand-eye coordination, too!
Materials:
- Bouquet of flowers in a variety of colors and scents (thorns removed)
Directions:
- Look at the bouquet. Show your baby the bouquet of flowers. Get her excited about exploring them.
- Look at each flower. Pick out one flower at a time and bring it up to your baby to touch, smell, and feel.
- Describe flowers. As baby explores each flower, talk about what the flower looks, smells, and feels like. Describe it’s texture and fragrance. Tell what color it is. Etc.
