Scribble Away Your Child’s Scary Monsters and Nightmares
Have you ever dealt with your child’s nightmares or fears of scary monsters, and goblins, and boogies (Oh, my!)? Recently, my 2.5 year old granddaughter, Lexie, has been regularly running into my office, slamming the door shut and yelling, “MONTER!! MONTER!!” In response to her scary “monster,” I’ll invite her to come over and sit on my lap, while I draw the monster. Nothing scary, mind you, mostly scribbly circles with big eyes and a smile. Once drawn, together, we raise our “swords” (non-toxic markers) and “slash” (scribble) over the mean beast to make the monster “all gone!” Our monster busting enterprise appears to be working its charm — she’s yelling “MONTER!! MONTER!!” less and less.
