Musical learning can be fun and exciting for your child. Materials:

• Child-safe or toy musical instrument
• Variety of music

Directions:

1. Play instruments with music. Have your child play a musical instrument as she listens to the music. Tell her to stop playing and put the instrument down when the music stops. When the music restarts, she can pick up the instrument and start playing again.
2. Change the pace. Start off at a slow pace, turning the music on and off, and then graduate to a faster pace and rhythm of music.
3. Keep practicing. While it may be challenging for your child to follow instructions at the beginning, reinforce the simple rules for the game by demonstrating the movements with your own instrument and playing the game often.
